Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG)
In England, Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) is now a mandatory policy requiring most developments to deliver a 10% improvement in habitat value. This means that nearly all projects must enhance the biodiversity of their site by 10%, as measured using a standardised metric calculation tool.
At Noctua Ecology, we have been actively involved in BNG projects well before the policy became mandatory on 12th February 2024. With extensive experience navigating the rules, regulations, and exemptions, we’re well-equipped to guide you through this process.
While BNG can seem complex, we simplify it for you by conducting an initial site assessment and biodiversity calculation. From there, we provide clear options to achieve BNG, including:
Enhancing or creating habitats on-site.
Enhancing an area of land off-site.
Purchasing biodiversity units from a habitat bank.
Our tailored approach ensures your development meets BNG requirements and achieves planning permission.
